The Paged Memory Management Unit (PMMU) built into the 68030 offers flexible memory management for applications designed to use this feature*. PMMU enables advanced operating systems* to offer more system services; for example:

• Virtual Memory uses a portion of available disk space as 
   if it were an extension of the random memory (DRAM).
• Memory Protection protects multiple-tasking applications 
   against system errors caused by other applications.
• Shared Memory manages usage of the same data by more 
   than one user.
